Villa Lepoutre

La villa fut commissionée par l’important industriel, Rémi Lepoutre, au debut des années 1970. La mission était de construire une villa sur une presqu’île juste en dehors de Porto Vecchio. Le propriétaire souhaitait avoir une villa ronde avec un toit en chaume qui devint la partie la plus complexe du projet.

Tous les détails à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur de la villa (porte d’entrée en métal sculptée, tuiles en céramique, fenêtres en fer forgé ) furent crées main par des artisans Corses exceptionels. Les matériaux utilisés furent tous sourcés en Corse: la terre, le bois, le fer forgé, les céramiques. La villa a une cheminée centrale qui constitue un élément important de la structure du toit qui est en bois.

La villa devint très connue en Corse car elle représente un exemple formidable d’architecture du début des années 1970.

The Villa was commissioned in the early 1970’s by reknown industrial magnate Rémi Lepoutre.  The challenge was to build on a almost island outside the city of Porto Vecchio. The owner wanted a round house with a thatch roof. The roof became the most complex and important part of the project. All the details inside and outside the house (metal doors, handmade ceramic tiles, “fer forgé” wrought iron windows) were custom made with the use of local materials, earth, wood, metal, ceramic tiles, all crafted and installed by highly skilled Corsican artisans and craftsmen. A central fire place is located in the center of the Villa under the roof which was made in wood.

The villa became very known in Corsica, as it represents a formidable exemple of Architecture from the early 1970’s.
